Custom Shaped or Free Form CD-Card Apart from the standard card size CD-CarD, a free form CD can be produced. Shaped-CDs are not new and have been available for many years, but there is a big difference. Shaped CDs require, at least three points of the CD touching the outer circle (120mm) of the CD tray. The size of a shaped-CD will always measure 120mm at its widest point. The 3 points is to ensure that the shaped CD is correctly positioned and centred.

The Free form CD, with its centering means on the 80mm inner-circle, does not need the 3 points to touch the outer circle of the CD tray. It therefore, can be smaller and takes on any shape without having to be constrained by the 3 points. Depending on the shape, the capacity can increase accordingly. For example, the Cloud and Heart shape CD is able to hold a 100 MB of data each.
